RUMA Academy was founded by Shelby Miller, DNP-FNP-C. Shelby is a board certified nurse practitioner with a doctorate degree from Gonzaga University. Shelby is a skilled cosmetic injector and well known in the medical aesthetic industry for producing natural, transformative results. Shelby is a national trainer and has educated hundreds of medical providers in the aesthetic community. She currently conducts many private local trainings in addition to training nationally for the industry leading companies Allergan and Galderma.
RUMA Academy is dedicated to providing aesthetic providers the necessary tools, techniques, and skills in order to create natural, proportionate, and safe results for their patients. Trainees currently have the opportunity to train with Shelby Miller DNP, FNP-C, Chrissy Bushell MSN, FNP-C, and Tessa Brown, RN.

PDO Threads 101 Certification Course
The PDO Threads 101 course at RUMA Academy is a 5-hour introductory training designed for medical professionals—such as RNs, NPs, PAs, and MDs—who wish to expand their aesthetic skill set to include non-surgical lifting techniques using PDO threads. This comprehensive course covers patient selection, facial anatomy, various PDO thread types (smooth, barbed, twist), and complication management. Participants will learn to perform PDO thread lifts in areas including the cheek vector, jawline, perioral lines, nasolabial folds, neck, and eyebrows. Live models are provided for hands-on practice during the training. To engage in the hands-on component, attendees must hold a Compact Nursing License or a Utah license (PA, NP, or MD). Those unable to obtain a Utah license are welcome to attend as observers. A Certificate of Completion is awarded upon finishing the course. CE/CME credits are not currently offered.
Intermediate Neuromodulator and Dermal Filler Course
The Intermediate Neuromodulator and Dermal Filler Course at RUMA Academy is a comprehensive 7-hour training designed for medical professionals—including RNs, NPs, PAs, and MDs—who have at least six months of full-time injecting experience and seek to enhance their skills in advanced aesthetic procedures. This course provides in-depth instruction on patient assessment, facial anatomy, product selection, injection techniques, various toxin reconstitutions, and complication management. Participants will learn to treat areas such as the masseters, mentalis, nasalis, depressor anguli oris, perform lip flips, address platysmal bands, apply microtox for fine lines, and manage hyperhidrosis. Additionally, the course covers dermal filler injections in the lower face using both needle and cannula techniques, as well as Kybella administration with a cannula. Live models are provided for hands-on practice, offering attendees practical experience under expert supervision. To participate in the hands-on component, attendees must hold a Compact Nursing License or a Utah license (PA, NP, or MD); those unable to obtain a Utah license may attend as observers or apply for a temporary license. A Certificate of Completion is awarded upon finishing the course. CE/CME credits are not currently offered.
Intermediate Lip Course
The Intermediate Lip Course at RUMA Academy is a 5-hour specialized training designed for medical professionals—including RNs, NPs, PAs, and MDs—who have at least six months of injecting experience and wish to refine their lip augmentation techniques. This course focuses on creating customized lip enhancements, whether aiming for a plump, full appearance or a natural, hydrated look. Participants will learn advanced methods to define and shape lips, achieving a beautiful, feminine aesthetic. Live models are provided for hands-on practice during the training. To participate in the hands-on component, attendees must hold a Compact Nursing License or a Utah license (PA, NP, or MD). Those unable to obtain a temporary Utah license are welcome to attend as observers. A Certificate of Completion is awarded upon finishing the course. CE/CME credits are not currently offered.
Beginner Neuromodulator and Dermal Filler Course
The Beginner Neuromodulator and Dermal Filler Course at RUMA Academy is a comprehensive 7-hour training designed for medical professionals—including RNs, NPs, PAs, and MDs—who are beginning their journey in aesthetic injectables. This course provides foundational instruction on safely administering Botox and Dysport to various facial areas, as well as techniques for injecting dermal fillers into the midface, cheek region, and lips. Participants will gain knowledge in patient assessment, facial anatomy, product selection, injection techniques, toxin reconstitution, and complication management. Live models are provided for hands-on practice during the training. To engage in the hands-on component, attendees must hold a Compact Nursing License or a Utah license (PA, NP, or MD). Those unable to obtain a Utah license are welcome to attend as observers or may apply for a temporary license. A Certificate of Completion is awarded upon finishing the course. CE/CME credits are not currently offered.
Advanced Injectable Course
The Small Group Advanced Injectable Course at RUMA Medical Aesthetics is an intensive 5-hour training designed for experienced medical professionals—such as RNs, NPs, PAs, and physicians—who have at least one year of full-time injecting experience and seek to enhance their skills in full-face rejuvenation techniques. Led by Shelby Miller, DNP-FNP-C, a nationally recognized expert in aesthetic injectables, the course focuses on consultation approaches, patient assessment, anatomy, product selection, rheology, and advanced injection techniques. Participants will gain in-depth knowledge of neuromodulators and dermal fillers, with a particular emphasis on RUMA's signature cheek and under-eye treatments. While attendees will have the opportunity to palpate and understand specific technique depths and approaches on live models, hands-on injection time may be limited depending on the areas covered and time constraints. The course accommodates 6-8 providers, fostering a collaborative and supportive learning environment. A Utah medical license is not required for participation. CE/CME credits are not currently offered.
